We're finally getting some information on how the new Vietnam rules will affect our adoption. Turns out... not that much at all. Our agency has sent some information in the last couple of days, describing a few extra steps that will have to be taken before a referral is officially given to a family. Those steps are on the Vietnam side, allowing their government to ensure that all children are legally available for adoption and that referrals are given to agencies in a fair and balanced way.
One of these steps requires that our dossier is sent to Vietnam now, while we're waiting for our referral, instead of sending it after our referral has been accepted. There are a couple of extra forms to be filled out and then our dossier will be on its way for translation, and then to be logged in by the Vietnam government.
So, most likely, still 6-9 months for referral. Or, technically, 5 1/3 to 8 1/3... since we've been waiting for 2/3 of a month already. My, how time flies....

I really hope you are closer to that 5 1/3 time frame :)
It's exciting that you're going to get your paperwork logged in. Then you'll really be "official"! :) Also it should cut about a month off the time between referral and travel. Trust me, that's terrific news for you!!!!
Great news! I hope your wait turns out shorter than you think.
